Down on the River

It has been a busy time for Alternative Images recently with various proposals for 2014 already being asked for. And Christmas hasn’t even happened. But all companies need to prepare for the next year in advance to gain the next level of achievement to stay ahead of the competition.

I was asked to attend a function for ITL at the Runnymede Hotel on the Thames recently to cover the evening’s activities. The day was a briefing conference with an evening of a lighter feel with amusing video clips that were done by the various countries that attended. Many from mostly Europe so there were many languages apparent within the room.

A good touch by the organising team was the variety of foods on offer for the delegates. There was roast beef and Chinese to a vast selection of Mediterranean food displayed.  After the meal the evening came to a conclusion with a small awards ceremony for the best entertaining video from the teams.

All the images were sorted and supplied swiftly from Alternative to the marketing team of ITL the following day sent via ftp server to be available for the in house news publication.

UKHO at the Park Plaza London

I was delighted to be asked again by the production company who organises UKHO conferences to attend again at the designated London venue. The company are holding three conferences in locations such as Singapore, Florida and London. UKHO call these their distributor’s conferences and address the various teams around the globe. The London venue this year was the Park Plaza Hotel on the River and set the scene for a day packed full of information and opportunities for the attendees.

My brief during the day was to capture the atmosphere of the room and record the main speakers on stage while addressing the audience. This is one of my favourite situations now where I can use my Nikon flagship camera to the full extent of its ISO capabilities. I shoot without flash and rely on the ambient light conditions to give the feel and ambience of the shots as natural as they can be taken. It does help here being able to shoot at 10000 ISO at a good shutter speed to keep all images sharp.

After lunch the company request that I take a group photograph of all that attended. This can be a demanding situation and using electronic flash sometimes up to three heads at one time and then needing to dismantle and move out of the conference area quickly so they can proceed with the day. In the whole of my career as a corporate photographer in London have I done a large group where someone doesn’t blink or look aside? So in this group shot with the wonders of digital trickery I replaced various heads and even blended the screens in behind to give a full as natural composition as I could as I saw it on the day.

The group photo is presented in a mount and was pre designed with the company colours and logos placed and printed in one image giving it a difference and professional appearance. This was all designed and produced by Alternative Images as part of the services offered to clients to give the x factor to a corporate day.
