SCA Timber Supply at Wickes Store Opening

Alternative Images, corporate photographer in London, were on hand again on the 11th December for the opening day of the new Wickes store in Elstree. PR agent Camilla Hair for SCA Timber Supply who is producing an article of the events that led up to the companies involvement with supplying the entire timber products to the group, had asked for more photography of the wood stock that has been supplied to the store.

It was quite a task to sort all the different types and sizes of wood and place them into the specially designed shelving or upstanding racking that has been priced and bar coded. This was all pre determined on how it was to be done with the customer focus view point considered to make it more easily available and for manoeuvre of large and heavy items.

The day was enriched by a visit from the CEO of SCA Timber Supply who personally came and viewed the installation and how it was all conducted by the team. I managed to grab a quick photo shoot with him congratulating the store manager of Wickes who had a great deal of involvement with the entire layout behind the scenes. It was no time at all until customers who made the visit that misty morning to the store were looking amongst the shelving and walking away with their purchases of SCA Timber.

After producing the photos for Camilla and supplying them to her for the article she was kind enough to remark on ‘how I did’ for her and the company. This was kind being the first time I have worked for her as a new client who found Alternative Images on Google.

“Alternative Images were superb. Highly flexible, perfectionist and quick to react in a fast-moving situation.  Post-production was speedy and efficient, delivering everything we required.”

SCA Timber at Wickes

Exciting times for the DIY and building material store Wickes who are opening a new outlet at the Elstree Trading Park on the 11th December. Busy preparation of all the units, displays and racking is underway to house the many products for this flagship store.

One supplier to Wickes is the timber company SCA. The company has its base at Stoke-on -Trent in the Midlands, UK and is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wood-based products, with an annual production of 2.1 million cubic metres. The product range is supplemented with service and distribution solutions for customers in the wood industry and builders’ merchant sector.

Alternative Images, corporate photographer in London was asked to cover the task of delivery and the unloading of the material by SCA to the Wickes store for their PR department, who is producing an editorial piece for the company. A team from SCA have been on hand for a period of time to erect the specifically designed racking that houses the wood products. Once the lorry had delivered and the load was fork lifted to the correct areas within the store the team began the busy task of organising and placing the wood to the correct locations.

The task is expected to take a few days with the various wood deliveries. SCA is delivering long length planed timber such as skirting boards, door frames and with the large variety of sheet products such as block board, wood chip and ply should all be ready for the opening day on the 11th where Alternative again is going to be on hand to record the final result.

Down on the River

It has been a busy time for Alternative Images recently with various proposals for 2014 already being asked for. And Christmas hasn’t even happened. But all companies need to prepare for the next year in advance to gain the next level of achievement to stay ahead of the competition.

I was asked to attend a function for ITL at the Runnymede Hotel on the Thames recently to cover the evening’s activities. The day was a briefing conference with an evening of a lighter feel with amusing video clips that were done by the various countries that attended. Many from mostly Europe so there were many languages apparent within the room.

A good touch by the organising team was the variety of foods on offer for the delegates. There was roast beef and Chinese to a vast selection of Mediterranean food displayed.  After the meal the evening came to a conclusion with a small awards ceremony for the best entertaining video from the teams.

All the images were sorted and supplied swiftly from Alternative to the marketing team of ITL the following day sent via ftp server to be available for the in house news publication.

UKHO at the Park Plaza London

I was delighted to be asked again by the production company who organises UKHO conferences to attend again at the designated London venue. The company are holding three conferences in locations such as Singapore, Florida and London. UKHO call these their distributor’s conferences and address the various teams around the globe. The London venue this year was the Park Plaza Hotel on the River and set the scene for a day packed full of information and opportunities for the attendees.

My brief during the day was to capture the atmosphere of the room and record the main speakers on stage while addressing the audience. This is one of my favourite situations now where I can use my Nikon flagship camera to the full extent of its ISO capabilities. I shoot without flash and rely on the ambient light conditions to give the feel and ambience of the shots as natural as they can be taken. It does help here being able to shoot at 10000 ISO at a good shutter speed to keep all images sharp.

After lunch the company request that I take a group photograph of all that attended. This can be a demanding situation and using electronic flash sometimes up to three heads at one time and then needing to dismantle and move out of the conference area quickly so they can proceed with the day. In the whole of my career as a corporate photographer in London have I done a large group where someone doesn’t blink or look aside? So in this group shot with the wonders of digital trickery I replaced various heads and even blended the screens in behind to give a full as natural composition as I could as I saw it on the day.

The group photo is presented in a mount and was pre designed with the company colours and logos placed and printed in one image giving it a difference and professional appearance. This was all designed and produced by Alternative Images as part of the services offered to clients to give the x factor to a corporate day.
