Be Inspired with Imperial

Been a busy time the last quarter of the month and not had much time to report back with what’s been going on. Alternative was once again involved with the autumn conference for the European business area of the group and held the event as last year at the Hilton Heathrow T5.

The conference was at a fast moving pace wanting to include as much detail and information as possible in the one day event. We started at prompt half past nine and went virtually straight through until six that evening only stopping for short coffee refreshments and a swift lunch break.

During the conference there was a schedule of eighteen presenters that I had to capture on the stage. That’s quite a lot of camera clicks using a mono pod so I was able to move around as quietly as possible. Also using quiet shutter on my D4! I was working for my usual client but was supplying images on the day to a new employee of the group who was handling the marketing area of the conference. This I made more easy for him to handle because I downloaded and sorted the images into the categories as and when it all happened.

As in Imperial fashion the event would not be complete without the evening function of a grand spread of various foods of the world, all in one place, so whatever your fancy it would be there, and to complete the evening there was a celebration with awards held by the CEO Alison Cooper.

Simple Graphics with Video Production

It does not matter if a company is large or small, video should be recognised as one of the best marketing strategies to promote a company. This type of video aims to introduce you and your business to your target audience, outlining what you do and how you help your customers. Your digital marketing strategy may include your website, SEO (search engine optimisation), social media, newsletters, blogging, and email marketing.

The world of video content has been on the increase. It has been proven that if an article on a website has a small video clip amongst it to describe or explain that article in more detail it holds its viewers attention for a longer period. A viewer cannot resist a click!

People assume that video is an expensive direction to head and have the need for large budgets. The answer to that is, yes, it can be. It all depends on what you want to achieve and what you want to put into it. I am asked “How much will a video cost to do ……” and in discussions, without being flippant, the answer is how long is a piece of string. This is where having the experience of talking to a client and extracting what they want to portray and where it is to be used often results in a project that is in line with the clients thinking.

An area of video production that is often missed out or not thought about by clients is the use of graphics and text to a project. Adding text to the beginning of a piece gives it a starting point and can often gage its content right from the start. This instantly gains interest. This can be simple or complex, all comes back to that question of budget but even simple well though out graphics can enhance a video article.

Here is a simple floating graphic of my company name. All it does is produce movement to the beginning of a video. It could be yours or your company logo but makes a viewer intrigued to its content.

Portraits at Crendon Timber

Another regular client of mine Camilla contacted me during August to be her preferred photographer for a new client of hers. This company is Crendon Timber that is situated near Oxford. They are a partner company of Snows Timber who are a larger firm that supply bespoke timber trusses for roofing. If you bought a new house within England now there would be a pretty good chance that the wooden roof material was supplied by Crendon.

The company has appointed a new MD, Alistair, who has only joined recently and getting his feet firmly under the desk and is running the company with a positive approach. Crendon during the summer months have been so busy with orders that they are working shifts and are open seven days a week and working into the evenings as well burning the midnight oil!! What a lovely situation to be in not to be wondering where the next order is coming from.

Alternative Images who has also a web site designed for the London PR markets at Corporatephotography.london held a portrait session for the company that consisted of sixteen head shots of the management team. Then we went out into the stormy conditions for some active portraits of the newly appointed MD Alistair with some of the product they produce. Crendon want to expand their photographic portfolio so I am looking foreword to getting up onto the rooftops and obtaining those desired images for them.
