Lincoln’s Inn with BSDA

Alternative Images has been commissioned to attend the Gala Dinner for the annual summer assembly for the European Federation of Bottled Water hosted by the UK office BSDA, the British Soft Drinks Association. The venue this year was the historic buildings of Lincoln’s Inn with the famous Great Hall an Old Hall that houses many events during the year. The start of the evening was a guided tour for the guest group around the Old Hall where the guide gave a detailed history account of the years gone by of the famous building. Then the group were taken over to the chappell to explore more facts of British history. They were impressed with the fantastic stained glass windows of the chappell that stood tall at both end of the building. The Chapel was erected in 1623 and, at the end of the seventeenth century, chambers were erected in New Square, which had formerly been an open space contiguous with Lincoln’s Inn Fields.

The exact origins of Lincoln’s Inn, and indeed of the other three Inns of Court, are not fully known. The extant records of Lincoln’s Inn open in 1422, the earliest of any of the Inns of Court; but a society of lawyers by that name was then already in existence.   It is likely that it evolved during the late part of the fourteenth century. In contrast to many of the colleges of Oxford or Cambridge, which it resembles, there was no conscious founding or dated charter.

The weather for June was not at its best for the European group but after the short tour of 45 mins they gathered for a relaxed photograph outside with the Great Hall in the background. There followed a drinks reception held in the Crypt that is beneath the Old Hall for the group accompanied by the sounds of  flute and harp players before they were called for the more formal Gala Dinner situated above within in the Old Hall. The Old Hall is the finest building in the Inn and, indeed, is one of the finest buildings in London. It is small but beautifully proportioned and executed.

Kitchen Print Interior

Publication from Alternative Images

The Exclusive magazine is where one of my clients places adverts for their kitchen design company. They design bespoke kitchens for a range of houses and apartments throughout the North West London area. Alternative has been commissioned several times by them to produce images of the on site installations that enhance the adverts.

They can put in my hands complete trust in creating the look they need to achieve. Being a corporate photographer that also specialise in interior photography I have a proven track record in supplying what my clients expects from me. The campaign for these adverts has been running for the past five months within this publication and is always good to see ones work being used to promote a valued product.

Restaurant Opening Promotional Images

I have been recently commissioned to produce images for the opening of a new restaurant in Shepperton. The proprietors David and Judi who have an established outlet in Windsor have been working hard in opening their sister restaurant ‘Castello’. The building was previously a restaurant but fell into decline and has been empty for ten months, but now has a new lease of life. ‘Castello’ offers a warm welcome with an extensive Italian menu and wine list. Alternative was asked to photograph the restaurant that has had a complete overhaul to bring it to the standard that David and Judi excel.

As a corporate photographer I wanted to capture images that reflect the interior colour scheme and lighting that give the areas a calm relaxed feel. Even when the restaurant is buzzing the feeling of space is present. The different seating arrangements can produce a moody, cosy feel or a bright open air ambience with a large daylight light conservatory. The seating arrangement can create space for larger groups or quiet romantic hideaways.

Promotional Interior Images

I photographed the interior using available light with a minimal flash so as to capture the soft wall lighting and all the warm colours of the furniture. Daylight creeping in through windows gave the images shape and contrast to the final look I wanted to achieve to portray the ambience of the venue.

Corporate Image InteriorsThe exterior image of Castello was achieved by using the HDR blending process that captures detail of exterior lighting over the signage.

Audi HDR

What does HDR stand for? What is it? It’s an abbreviation for High Dynamic Range. Here is a photograph from a recent project of a car dealership that needed to be displayed as vibrant, exciting and modern. And being an Audi dealer had some vibrant and exciting models like the R8 I can tell you.

The weather on the day was not the best so how do you photograph this in a different way to obtain a shot that stands out from the rest of the crowd. In the corporate field this can happen and the situation faced with time restrictions sometimes needs a different approach.

If the shot was exposed only for the outside of the building the inside would be dull and lifeless. The sky also would bleed out into nothing with a single exposure. So needed here  was to take about five to seven frames of different exposures to capture the sky, building and inner available light. This gives you a variety of exposures highlighting different areas.  Then this is done in post production and the image created. The overall effect is not a cheat or false in any way but just obtaining different information and blending together that cannot be done in one hit. Now we have an image that is moody with a vibrant glow for the purpose it was needed.
